Thanksgiving Recipes and Tips From The Spicy Hermit
While kimchi may not be a traditional choice for Thanksgiving (Korean Thanksgiving is another story, though), it can be a good choice for breaking up the heaviness and creaminess of most traditional Thanksgiving foods as well ensuring that your gut stays healthy despite the heavy meals. Here are some suggested recipes:
FOR YOUR FOOTBALL GAME:
Kimchi Queso & Chips -- trust me, everyone will love this, even people who don’t normally like kimchi.
FOR AN APPETIZER:
Pair kimchi with goat cheese, or even cream cheese. Butternut squash kimchi goes very well with blue cheese and walnuts.
Kimchi Pancakes (great with shrimp, too)
FOR A MIX ON TRADITION:
Kimchi with Sweet Potatoes - works well with leafy kimchi- chop kimchi and mix with mashed sweet potatoes, butter, and season to taste.
FOR THE LEFTOVERS:
Kimchi Fried Rice (add turkey as source of protein)
Kimchi Mayo to put in your turkey sandwiches
Bon Appetit! Hope your Thanksgiving is wonderful and delicious! (Yes, The Spicy Hermit will be at Durham Farmers’ Market on Saturday and Thanksgiving Market on Tuesday for your kimchi needs.)
